An Evening with Candy Dulfer and Bobby Caldwell

Apr 6 , 2014 · KNIGHT THEATER at Levine Center for the Arts

$42.50 - $65.50

Presented by: The Jazz Diva

Dutch-born Candy Dulfer first picked up the saxophone at the tender age of six. Over 30 years and two decades after her Grammy-nominated recording debut in 1990, the sizzling saxophonist has earned a reputation as a high-energy performer with charisma and sex appeal to burn.

Along the way, Candy Dulfer has made scores of friends in high places. She appeared in the Prince video, “Partyman” in 1990, and played with him on the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack released that same year. She has toured with him frequently since the late ‘90s, most recently on his Musicology tour in 2004, and played on his 2006 release, 3121. Other collaborative partners have included Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Maceo Parker, Van Morrison, David Sanborn, Beyonce, Pink Floyd, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Blondie, Joey DeFrancesco, and many others.

Crooner Bobby Caldwell is a contemporary jazz favorite. Even more impressive in a live show, the singer's powerful vocal range and abilities are layered with tender renditions and soulful images. His acclaimed rhythm 'n' blues band reconnects with past hits and give new songs his torching, vibrant flair. Drawing from his vast repertoire of rousing R&B, intimate smooth jazz stylings, and big band songs, Bobby has the ability to entertain at any venue, for fans of all ages.

As a singer, he has a successful career with numerous solo releases, which have earned accolades far and wide. Bobby's timeless classic, "What You Won't Do For Love" has been recorded and sampled by more than 100 artists, including rendition by Boys II Men. His songwriting skills have earned hits not only for himself, but also for well-known artists like Chicago, Boz Scaggs, Peter Cetera and Amy Grant, Neil Diamond and Al Jarreau.

**Please note: each artist will perform individually
