Charlotte Ballet: Fall Works: Leonce and Lena
Christian Spuck, Artistic Director for Ballet Zürich, brings to life this 19th century satirical romantic comedy – the tale of betrothed Prince Leonce and Princess Lena. Casting aside convention, they both flee on the eve of their wedding only to meet as strangers and fall in love. Described as having “all the skill and wonder of classic ballet, but with a sweet story [and] gothy ambiance,” this highly theatrical production is more “Tim Burton” than “Disney!” We think this will be best enjoyed by adults and children ages 8+.
Family Matinees are the perfect way to introduce your children to Charlotte Ballet and the world of dance!
All of our Family Matinees include pre-show, interactive activities for children that take place in the lobby of the Knight Theater an hour before show time. Depending on the show, the performance is either abbreviated or full-length. For the 2019/2020 Season, Family Matinees for Leonce and Lena and Sleeping Beauty will feature full-length performances. The Spring Works show will be abbreviated (approximately one hour running time with no intermission).
Charlotte Ballet’s Family Matinees are presented by the Leon Levine Foundation.
