Sounds on the Square is back to highlight the best comedians and musicians in the Charlotte area! Featuring clean comedy from Tara Brown to open the show and music from Emanuel Wynter, this free outdoor event will have socially distanced seating for the first 25 guests on a first come, first served basis. Face masks will be required per state mandate and concessions will not be available. A live stream of these events will also be shared on our Facebook page!
Emanuel Wynter is a violinist/singer/songwriter residing in North Carolina. His musical journey started at the age of 6 when he was signed up for violin classes in the first grade. 17 years later, Emanuel's dedication to music, as well as his time as a professional violinist, has exposed him to musical styles ranging from classic rock to jazz. Emanuel's influences are all ingredients at the table, combining flavors to create music is a partnership of the contemporary sounds of neo-soul, funk, and R&B with the sounds of a traditional instrument, the violin. His sweet and soulful displays are a unique spectacle that you don't want to miss.
Tara Brown performs clean and family-friendly comedy across the country. The nationally touring headlining comedians she has shared stages with have included Ilana Glazer, Cristela Alonzo, Ryan Hamilton, Jimmie “JJ” Walker, and the late John Witherspoon. She has been featured on WBTV-TV, WJZY-TV, WBT Radio, The Lancaster News, Carolina Gateway, and The Charlotte Post. CharlotteFive.com named her as one of “The Standup Comedians You Need to Know in Charlotte;” while Queen City Nerve named her as “Best Comedian” for 2019 in their “Best of the Nest Readers’ Picks.” In addition, Tara is the most recent winner of the “Jeanne Robertson’s Comedy with Class Humor Competition.”
Tara was a winner of the “Fight Night” and “Comedy Battle” competitions at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte; and was a two-time finalist for “Comedian of the Year” by the Queen City Awards. She was also a 2018 and 2019 CrowdPlay Events Resident, and a 2019 resident at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City.
Tara has performed at corporate, industry and ministry events, and was a featured performer at the Laughlin Laugh Festival, the Oak City Comedy Festival, the North Carolina Comedy Festival, the Queen City Comedy Experience, and for the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s “Best of the Best Open Mic Celebration.” Tara is also the producer and host of a Clean Comedy Brunch series at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Tara Brown now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
