Second Shift Building Services Supervisor

Position Summary  

Under limited supervision, supervises and participates in the cleaning of all Blumenthal Arts (BA) performance and event spaces, as well as, rental spaces and grounds utilized by BA, ensuring a safe, pleasant environment for staff, performers, and the public. Performs related duties as required. Must be flexible with work hours. Reports to the Building Services Manager. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Supervises and participates in the cleaning of BA performance and event spaces, as well as rental spaces utilized by BA.  

  • Supervises assigned Building Services staff.  Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; acting on employee problems; overseeing the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; making recommendations as appropriate; offering training, advice and assistance as needed. 

  • Performs basic event set-ups to include chairs, tables, and linens. 

  • Maintains and services an inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies. 

  • Performs general floor and carpet cleaning, as needed. 

  • Reports safety and maintenance deficiencies to the supervisor. 

  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, chemical manuals, etc. 

  • Trains subordinates and operates a computer as well as a variety of maintenance equipment to include floor scrubber, floor buffer, floor stripper, vacuum, wet vacuum, leaf blower, etc. 

  • Utilizes various clerical, cleaning, and maintenance supplies. 

  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, subordinates, staff of other departments, tenants, vendors, and the general public. 

  • Performs other custodial/maintenance duties as required. 

  • Performs non-technical event set-ups. 

  • Performs related duties as required. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by three to five years of building service or maintenance experience, some of which has been in a supervisory capacity. 

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling 

  • Must be able to lift carry, push and/or pull objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20pounds), and occasionally heavier items (up to 50 pounds)
