The Queen City has a big dog in the fight when it comes to this year’s Tony Awards.

Charlotte-native Eva Noblezada, who left Northwest School of the Arts as a senior to take the lead role of Kim in West End’s production of “Miss Saigon” in London - is nominated for her first Tony Award for Broadway’s revival of the same iconic musical.

The Tony Award nominations were announced Tuesday morning. Click here, for a full list of the 2017 nominees.

Noblezada, 21, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. She’s up against Broadway heavy hitters Bette Midler, Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole.

"We’re so proud of Eva and thrilled to see her talent and hard work recognized," said Blumenthal President Tom Gabbard. "As hundreds of students prepare for the 2017 Blumey Awards, it’s hard to believe that only four years ago she was one of the talented kids on the Belk Theater stage. Eva’s phenomenal success since then is a sweet reminder of the importance of programs like the Blumey Awards to encourage our talented kids in Charlotte to dream big dreams and to work hard to achieve them."

“Miss Saigon” also received a nomination for Best Revival of a Musical.

You can cheer Eva on at the Blumenthal’s 13th Annual Tony Awards Viewing Party.
