We’re thrilled to announce our “Sew For The Show: Mask Design Challenge” – a four-week, Broadway-themed face mask making competition officially launching NEXT WEEK (July 13)! Each Monday throughout the challenge, we will announce which Broadway show on our upcoming season will inspire that week’s mask theme. Participants will have until end of day the following Sunday to design, create and submit a photo of their show-themed mask. Each week’s winner will receive (2) complimentary tickets to opening night of the featured Broadway show. The grand prize winner will receive opening night tickets to ALL THREE featured shows! The Challenge will be juried by Charlotte-area professional costume designers. We’ll introduce you to them throughout the week and share tutorial videos they put together to help you make a base mask! For more information, click the link in our bio!

Planning a visit Uptown? Check out Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet - a FREE, outdoor public art exhibition featuring 35 globes all over Charlotte! Each globe represents a simple way individuals or businesses can reduce climate change. The primary exhibit space is located along North Tryon Street between Trade and East 11th, with 31 globes spanning eight city blocks. Two of these cool globes are in front of our beautiful Belk Theater! 😍🌎

Blumenthal Performing Arts is participating in an international study on how COVID-19 is impacting audiences, called Audience Outlook Monitor. Arts and culture leaders around the world are faced with a series of challenging decisions about how and when to reopen their doors and restart programs. Understanding public attitudes is important to that process. We’ll be emailing a confidential survey to groups of patrons throughout the summer. If you see it pop-up in your inbox, we’d really appreciate your feedback! It’s not long, and your opinions can help us to be safe and smart in how we reopen. Join us on July 10th at 6pm for Be The Change, a virtual benefit show for Campaign Zero and NAACP Charlotte-Mecklenburg! Recorded live from our historic McGlohon Theater and organized by Blumenthal’s own Chelsea Karpeh, this inspiring evening will explore the issues of race and social justice through music, dance and spoken word. Be The Change will premiere on our YouTube channel, with donations gratefully accepted before and during the event at the link in our bio!

Meet Vickie Perras, our wonderful Head of Wardrobe at Belk Theater! She’s using her incredible talents to help make sure we’re READY to present shows again, by making HUNDREDS of face masks for our lovely ushers and staff working behind-the-scenes! THANK YOU, Vickie! Looking forward to SlamCharlotte: Poetry Slam & Juneteenth Celebration Open Mic! TONIGHT at The Square at Spirit Square at 6:30pm! This is an outdoor event. Space is limited to 25 people at a time on a first come, first serve basis. Social distancing procedures will be in place and face masks are strongly encouraged. Concessions will not be available. You can also watch virtually! A live stream will be shared on Blumenthal's Facebook page!

We always say "groups have more fun" so "Say Hello 👋" to Emily, our amazing Group Sales Coordinator! While working from home, she's thanking the Academy by binging the Best Picture winners, supporting local with her take-out orders, and really solidifying her contributions to future workplace potlucks (once it's safe) with her new macaron hobby! Miss you, Emily! Can't wait for the day our fun groups can once again gather at our theaters!
