Blumenthal Performing Arts offers a variety of scholarships for students to help promote and encourage participation in arts & theater.
The Mary Doctor Performing Arts Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Mary Doctor, an astute Charlotte area business owner and a tremendous supporter of young people and Blumenthal Performing Arts. Up to two Charlotte Region, high school seniors are selected each year to receive a scholarship of up to $40,000!
The Gordon Hay Scholarship Fund is a merit-based scholarship established in memory of Gordon Hay, an organizational development professional, who was passionate about transformational change through authentic engagement of people’s hearts and minds in the strategic work of the business. He believed passion and fire from within fueled exceptional results. A committee selects one exceptional Charlotte Region student, pursuing a degree in a non-performance area of theatre, to receive a one-time award in the amount of $5,000 each year.
The Spirit of Service Scholarship Award was established to encourage student commitment to higher education and provide financial support for a deserving student’s college education. This financial support reinforces Blumenthal Performing Arts’ commitment to mentor the youth in our community and provide unique opportunities for youth through the Junior Ambassador Program.
Blumenthal Performing Arts and the Linda Beck Education Fund are partnering to provide one regional first place $2,000 scholarship and one regional runner up $1,500 scholarship to students in the Charlotte area as part of the recently announced national Dear Evan Hansen "You Will Be Found" College Essay Writing Challenge. Tthis national essay challenge also includes the opportunity to receive an additional $10,000 college scholarship at the national level, funded by Dear Evan Hansen lead producer Stacey Mindich.
