The Blumey Awards

A Special Message from Blumenthal President Tom Gabbard

Sadly we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Blumey Awards due to the COVID-19 crisis.  We made this decision reluctantly after our team consulted with our school partners, as well as assessed information provided by officials.  We believe it is the right thing to do.

Although it seems far off, we look forward to the 2021 Blumey Awards which is currently scheduled for May 23, 2021.

The Jimmy Awards, the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in NYC, also have been cancelled.  Many of our peer programs across the country were facing similar issues in mounting their local productions this year.

We hate to miss our annual opportunity to celebrate the great work being done in our schools and the wonderful talent being nurtured there.  We intend to try to put together some type of concert or special event, hopefully in the summer, to address that.   Stay tuned.

We are all in this together.   We will find our way to a bright future and chance to be together again to celebrate great student talent.

A Special Message from Blumey Awards Music Director David Dabbon

The program’s mission is to recognize, reward and encourage talent and achievement in musical theater among high school students in the greater Charlotte area. The Blumey Awards highlight the importance of musical theater and arts education.
