Blumenthal’s school show matinees invite students to experience professional theater at a reduced cost, many for the first time, and offer area teachers the opportunity to explore the connections between live entertainment, arts education, and classroom curriculum. Our school shows vary each year with the number of offerings, seating capacity, and age appropriateness of show content. School matinees are often times in high demand and availability is on a first come, first serve basis. Here are the upcoming school show opportunities for the 2019-2020 season!
Fusing salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop and contemporary dance with theater, compelling text and original music, Contra Tiempo brings physically intense and politically astute experiences to the concert stage. Following each performance, the audience will be invited to participate in a post-show sabor - a community dance party! Tickets are $5 per student. Tickets are extremely limited.
Discovery Place Science and Blumenthal Performing Arts are pleased to announce a second installment of the popular National Geographic Live series. Into the Arctic Kingdom, March 24, 2020 - 10:00am. His multi-year quest to document the Arctic took photographer Florian Schulz to the ends of the Earth. He camped for weeks in jarring winter conditions, accompanied traditional Inuit hunters and sailed the arctic waters, all to get an intimate look at life in the Arctic. There, he tracked families of polar bears, followed the vast caribou herds, and captured the Northern Lights in stunning detail. Through breathtaking imagery, the National Geographic photographer takes audiences on a legendary journey into the Arctic kingdom — with a special focus on the Arctic Refuge, one of the world's last great wilderness.
Ticket price includes a ticket to the performance and admission to Discovery Place! If you are interested in booking tickets, please reach out to Discovery Place Group Sales at 704-348-1974.
