Front of House Security Officer - Part Time

Salary Range: Grade 10

Position Summary  

Under routine supervision, actively monitors the safety and security of Front of House guests, staff, and facilities in assigned areas of Blumenthal Performing Arts (BPA) performance and event spaces including rental spaces and grounds utilized by BPA. Works with Front of House staff to ensure a pleasant and safe environment by providing superior customer service. Provides constant visual and audio surveillance of the assigned Front of House space. This position requires evening and weekend work. Reports to the Security Supervisor. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Enforces BPA safety policies and procedures.  

  • Monitors safety and security in Front of House operations.   

  • Utilizes Evolv Threat Detection Machine, including the ability to set-up, break down, and operate machine.  

  • Supports front of house usher staff, parking staff, and food and beverage staff to address problems, concerns or situations when necessary. 

  • Reports to designated authority any suspicious condition, person, incident or action which could result in injury or loss to company, employee or patron.  Assists in conducting security investigations as requested. 

  • Responds promptly and professionally to any concerns or situations brought to attention from staff, guests or emergency/police personnel. 

  • Locks and unlocks doors as requested.  Responsible to ensure all front of house doors are secured at the end of shift. 

  • Maintains knowledge of Blumenthal Performing Arts activities and schedules as assigned. 

  • Assists with accident/incident reports, etc. in the absence of Security Supervisor or House Manager and assists House Manager as requested for security issues or to provide necessary information. 

  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, security manuals, evacuation plans, schedules, etc. 

  • Utilizes a two-way radio to communicate effectively and professionally.   

  • Interacts and communicates professionally with various groups and individuals such as immediate supervisor, other staff, and general public.  

  • Understands theater layout including entrances and exits, coat check, restrooms, water fountains, concessions, elevators and stairways, and parking; and communicates it to patrons when necessary. 

  • Reports any maintenance or housekeeping needs to the Security Supervisor or House Manager. 

  • Assist in resolving patron complaints, escalating to the Security Supervisor when necessary.  

  • Performs related duties as required. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience  

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by two years of customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.   

  • Experience in security, military, or law enforcement recommended.
