Immersive Lead - Temporary, Part-Time

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Blume Studios Operations, the Immersive Lead serves as the on-duty supervisor responsible for the daily operation of immersive exhibitions at Blume Studios. This role oversees and supports Immersive Associates and Immersive Specialists, ensuring operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and adherence to safety and service standards. The Immersive Lead may be the most senior staff member on-site and is responsible for opening and closing the facility, addressing guest concerns, and serving as the first level of escalation for operational issues. The position requires a thorough understanding of all exhibition technology, systems, and procedures, as well as front-of-house operations, with the ability to step into any role as needed. The Immersive Lead provides technical troubleshooting, staff coaching, and operational support to ensure a seamless guest experience. This is a temporary, part-time position tied to the duration of the exhibition, averaging 20-30 hours per week and requiring regular evening, holiday, and weekend availability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Open and close the exhibition and facility in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Serve as the on-duty supervisor and, when applicable, the most senior staff member on-site.
- Supervise, support, and direct the work of Immersive Associates and Immersive Specialists during operating hours.
- Provide leadership, coaching, feedback, and ongoing training to staff to ensure operational excellence and consistent guest experiences.
- Act as the first point of escalation for guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations.
- Ensure all staff adhere to operational, safety, and customer service standards.
- Support all front-of-house functions, including ticketing, retail operations, concessions, queue management, and crowd flow.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all exhibition roles and step into operational positions as needed.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for immersive technologies, including VR equipment, free-roaming systems, software, hardware, and exhibit infrastructure.
- Carry out or coordinate maintenance, cleaning, and operational readiness tasks to ensure exhibition equipment and environments meet quality standards.
- Monitor exhibition scenography, technical equipment, and physical spaces, coordinating repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Complete daily operational reports, incident reports, and shift documentation.
- Ensure the exhibition environment remains safe, clean, organized, and professional at all times.
- Communicate operational updates, staffing concerns, maintenance needs, and guest feedback to management.
- Support emergency procedures and respond appropriately to operational, guest, or facility-related incidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, supported by at least 3 years of technical theater, computer, or virtual reality technical experience, or a combination of knowledge, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience in immersive or non-traditional performance spaces is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with virtual reality, immersive technologies, technical systems, or related technology preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and operational issues in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
- Motor coordination sufficient to operate exhibit equipment and technology.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and in dimly lit environments.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Tasks may involve moderate physical activity, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to respond quickly to guest, operational, and emergency situations.
