CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The upcoming 2026-27 season for Blumenthal Arts features an
action-packed lineup bursting with iconic stories, audience favorites, new productions, and award-winning titles from Broadway.
The season is a standout mix of drama, romance, spectacle, comedy, and theatrical magic in the PNC Broadway Lights Series. Highlights include the 40th anniversary return of Phantom of the Opera in a revitalized production featuring Maria Björnson’s original design; a new, reimagined production of Beauty and the Beast; the Charlotte premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; the regional premiere of Oh, Mary!; the Charlotte premiere of Peter Pan Goes Wrong, produced by Blumenthal Arts and staged exclusively in Charlotte; and Buena Vista Social Club, arriving in Charlotte following its Broadway run. The season also includes Dirty Dancing and Death Becomes Her, rounding out a lineup that blends returning favorites, fresh productions and major Broadway titles.
In addition, Blumenthal Arts will also present four Broadway Extras: A Beautiful Noise, The Wiz, Heathers and Jersey Boys.
“When we build a season, we’re thinking about the full experience of what it means to gather in a theater,” said Tom Gabbard, CEO of Blumenthal Arts. “We want shows that get people talking on the drive home, stories that stay with someone for weeks, or a performance that brings a new audience member through our doors for the first time.
“This season gives Charlotte audiences access to some of the most exciting work coming out of Broadway, and when people subscribe, they’re also helping support Blumenthal’s ability to keep bringing those experiences to our city.”
Seven-show season packages range from $330.90 to $1,014.06, all-inclusive of fees and taxes, with the option to add Oh, Mary! to create an eight-show package. Pricing is subject to change.
For the 12th year, PNC Bank returns as the presenting sponsor of the PNC Broadway Lights Series, continuing its longstanding support of Broadway in Charlotte. “All of us at PNC look forward to helping welcome audiences to the 2026-27 season of the PNC Broadway Lights Series, which brings brilliant performances and meaningful economic impact to our community,” said Weston Andress, PNC regional president for Western Carolinas. “We applaud Blumenthal Arts for its continued commitment to deliver world-class productions and programming in uptown Charlotte.”
Beyond the performances themselves, Blumenthal Arts will continue to offer audiences additional ways to engage with the season through storytelling, conversation and community connection, such as Community Cues, a series of free events inspired by each production that offer behind-the-scenes access to guests and explore themes and topics connected to the shows.
To help introduce the season, Blumenthal Arts’ Chief Community Impact and Partnership Officer, Kristen Miranda, went on location to New York City to get up close and personal with the professional theater community. Her conversations are the centerpiece of a special season announcement program, offering audiences a closer look at this year’s lineup and the stories behind it. The special is now available on demand on the Blumenthal Arts’ YouTube channel. In addition to spotlighting the season’s Broadway titles, the program will also reflect the broader ways Blumenthal connects audiences to the arts through community engagement, education and access.
