BLUMENTHAL PERFORMING ARTS WELCOMES US AIRWAYS AS OFFICIAL AIRLINE

Charlotte, NC – Blumenthal Performing Arts is pleased to announce US Airways’ sponsorship as the Official Airline of the Blumenthal. US Airways is committed to investing in community organizations that enhance the quality of life in its hub community of Charlotte, as well as its hub cities in Philadelphia, Phoenix, Ariz. and Washington, D.C.  Blumenthal greatly appreciates US Airways’ generous support of the arts.

As the Official Airline of Blumenthal Performing Arts, US Airways will provide air travel for the Blumenthal Performing Arts High School Musical Theater Awards (The Blumey Awards), the Broadway Junior Theater Celebration and the Broadway Experience program.

Each of these programs serves students in the greater Charlotte area and enriches musical theater programs and arts education for students. Additionally, US Airways will provide air travel for artists performing at Blumenthal and for staff business travel.

The Blumey Awards recognize, reward and encourage talent and achievement in musical theater among high school students in the greater Charlotte area.  Professionals from New York are flown in to assist with the ceremony.

The Broadway Junior Theater Celebration offers an enthusiastic, educational environment for elementary and middle school students and teachers to interact with hundreds of others who share their passion for musical theatre.  The team at iTheatrics, a premiere creative consultant in educational musical theatre based in New York City that created and directs the program, is flown in for the two-day celebration.

The Broadway Experience program provides a trip to New York City for deserving local high school students. Twelve high school students and three faculty members are flown to New York for an once-in-a-lifetime theater weekend.
