DON’T BE DUPED: GET YOUR TICKETS THE SMART WAY

With all of the BIG NAME SHOWS headed to our beautiful venues in the coming weeks and months, here’s a quick reminder on why it’s so important to buy your Blumenthal Performing Arts tickets directly from Blumenthal.

Remember: The only official websites to order tickets to events at Blumenthal are www.blumenthalarts.org and www.carolinatix.org. You can also call our Box Office at (704) 372-1000 (open Monday - Saturday, 10am - 6pm).  For our events at Ovens Auditorium, www.ticketmaster.com.

5 Reasons the Best Way

Is to Buy through BPA:

1. KEEP TICKETS AFFORDABLE

“We go to a lot of trouble to create some affordable tickets,” says Tom Gabbard, Blumenthal’s president and CEO. That includes significant work behind-the-scenes, such as enlisting the help of individuals and corporations to underwrite performances, to ensure affordable ticket zones exist.

“It’s really frustrating then if scalpers take advantage of our online ticketing to go out and buy these tickets that were really intended to make sure that anybody who wants to see a show at Blumenthal will be able to afford it,” he says.

Scalpers and brokers encroach on access and availability by removing inventory and inflating prices well above face values.

2. DON’T RISK HAVING YOUR PURCHASE VOIDED

When HAMILTON came in 2018, Blumenthal discovered around 5,700 suspected broker tickets during the Charlotte run. Tickets like these risk being voided since most violate Blumenthal’s policy, which prohibits resales for more than $10 above the original price, plus taxes and handling fees.

Blumenthal’s team works hard to try to provide a pleasant, uplifting experience at the theater, Gabbard says, and it's heart-breaking when individuals, especially families, have their plans ruined because they purchased tickets from an unauthorized source.

If you have already purchased tickets for an upcoming event and worry about their validity, please contact Blumenthal Ticketing staff at tickets@blumenthalarts.org immediately, who will do their best to assist you. When possible, Blumenthal will cancel the invalid tickets and resell them to you at the actual face value.

3. GUARANTEE YOUR TICKETS ARE AUTHENTIC

“We have people that show up at a performance… and it’s not until they actually get there that they realize that they’ve been conned,” Gabbard says.

That’s right, sometimes tickets advertised by other websites aren’t even real. It’s not worth the risk and the disappointment. Buy directly from BlumenthalArts.org or call (704) 372-1000 to ensure the tickets you buy are authentic.

All Blumenthal tickets are now digital and delivered shortly before the actual performance date to try to cut down on unauthorized ticket resales. Click here for more information on Contactless Mobile Tickets.

4. DON’T OVERPAY TO SEE A SHOW

Prices advertised on other websites are often exorbitantly higher than the actual ticket price.

For example, one online site currently lists an Orchestra Right ticket for a weekday matinee performance of THE NUTCRACKER at Belk Theater for $656! Meanwhile at BlumenthalArts.org, the equivalent seat type is priced at $88 (with all other tickets for that performance ranging between $25 - $114).

5. GET HELP WITH ANY SHOW-RELATED QUESTIONS AND TICKET ISSUES

When you buy from Blumenthal, you can go directly to the source for any questions about seating and ensure you have the most up-to-date information on events and policies. Ticketing staff will do their best to assist every ticket buyer.

If you attend shows frequently, remember Blumenthal subscribers and donors get first access to the best tickets at the lowest prices; they can also take advantage of free exchanges into other performances and even swap out season tickets for other shows (click here for full details).
