Blumenthal Arts just revealed its 2026-2027 PNC Broadway Lights Series and it’s full of hits direct from Broadway, beloved favorites lovingly updated for today, and several Charlotte and regional premieres.

Theater fans got a first look at what’s coming next to Blumenthal Arts during a high octane unveiling at Belk Theater, hosted by Blumenthal’s Kristen Miranda. The free event included merch giveaways, live performances with singers direct from Broadway/national tours and the debut of the TV special - Charlotte On Stage and Beyond.

The show, now streaming on Blumenthal’s YouTube Channel, shares all the series highlights and features exclusive interviews with the creative teams behind many of the sensational shows headed to Charlotte. It also checks in with Blumey Awards alums and highlights the range of inspiring community and educational programs Blumenthal helms each year.

Here’s what folks had to say, after seeing what’s coming soon to Charlotte!

Last spring, young professional Stevie Galicia and her husband attended Blumenthal’s Broadway announcement event and it really helped with planning. “So this year, I invited all of my friends to come and see it with us,” Galicia said.

“I’m very excited for ‘Death Becomes Her’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.’ I think that that’s why they left them to the last two because I think everybody was really excited for those. We’re thinking about [subscribing], trying to see because we like to go as a whole big group, so just trying to see how affordable it is for everybody…”

GOOD TO KNOW: Subscribers get access to the best seats and best prices and can also swap up to four shows out for any other event taking place in Blumenthal’s theaters.

For Club Blume members Sarah Amon and Merritt McCully, the five-time Tony AwardⓇ-winning “Buena Vista Social Club” caught their attention.

“I’ve listened to the CD countless times,” said McCully. The couple is also intrigued by the dark comedy, “Oh, Mary!” the show that’s taken Broadway by storm and is making its regional debut at Blumenthal next season.

“I had never heard of it before this,” McCully said, “but we both were really into it after seeing the interview with the director.”

Phillip K., said he plans to subscribe this season. “Since I’ve retired, I’ve had an opportunity to finally begin to come and see some shows and this is an extraordinary experience — so much to offer and it makes me proud of Charlotte because when you invite friends and relatives from other places, you get an opportunity to show them what we have here in Charlotte.”

Phillip said he’s looking forward to all the upcoming shows. “‘Death Becomes Her,’ ‘Buena Vista,’ just the entire experience, I’m looking forward to it. I’ve seen some great plays in the past.”

Sue Tanner, a current subscriber, said she came out to catch a preview of the exciting shows coming next year. “They’ve always had really great line ups and I had a feeling ‘Phantom’ might be one of them. I’m super excited about what’s coming next season.”

She also discovered “Oh, Mary!” at the event. “I had no idea what it was about and it looks so much fun. And I saw ‘Death Becomes Her’ on Broadway last fall so I’m really excited to get a group of girlfriends to come see that one.”

And there's lots more too: From a reimagined  “Beauty and the Beast” and new “Dirty Dancing” to the return of “Jersey Boys” and “The Wiz.” Click here to check out the full season lineup and why it pays to subscribe!
