FREE DNC Public Viewing Party Tonight - McGlohon Theater - Doors Open at 6 PM

Sep 6, 2012 /
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square will open at 6 p.m. today for a public viewing party of tonight’s Democratic National Convention, which will culminate with President Barack Obama’s acceptance speech.

Blumenthal Performing Arts is opening McGlohon Theater in response to the change of venue for tonight’s DNC event from Bank of America Stadium to Time Warner Cable Arena. The much smaller arena will not be able to accommodate many people who had tickets for the stadium.

“This public viewing opportunity at McGlohon will offer an alternative to some of those who would still like to be able to experience the speech with others,” said Blumenthal President Tom Gabbard.

Seating will be first come, first served.  No tickets are required.  McGlohon can accommodate about 700 people who will be able to see the festivities and speeches on a big screen system.

“We invite the public to join us at McGlohon tonight,” said Gabbard. “The DNC has been an exciting time for the city, and tonight is a great chance to experience the excitement in person with friends and neighbors.”
