Charlotte, NC – Featured on Oprah and 60 Minutes, THE 5 BROWNS will play at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Knight Theater Feb. 16, 2010. The quintet enjoyed their first wave of critical attention in February 2002 when People magazine dubbed them the “Fab Five.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 23 and can be purchased online at BlumenthalCenter.org, by phone at 704-372-1000, or from the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Box Office located in the Tryon Street lobby of the Belk Theater. This concert is presented by the Blumenthal and by Charlotte Concerts.
The 5 Browns – Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae – are the sons and daughters of Keith and Lisa Brown from Utah who wanted their Mormon children to have music in their lives. The goal was to raise “five good people.” Not only did they achieve their goal, but they also managed to raise five amazingly talented pianists.
In 2005 they released their debut album – titled The 5 Browns – on RCA Red Seal. The album spent eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard Classical chart. Their third album Browns in Blue merges classical and jazz worlds together to produce what can only be described as pure music.
