Junior Theater Celebration Charlotte

Junior Theater Family,

Sadly, we have made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Junior Theater Celebration due to the COVID-19 crisis we are all dealing with.  We made this decision reluctantly following the reality of on-going school closures, as well as assessing information provided by officials. We believe it is the right thing to do.

We regret that we cannot bring the students together to see each other perform, receiving feedback as well as training from the talented iTheatrics team from New York but we are pleased that many schools still had the opportunity to produce a show with their students.

Although it seems far off, we look forward to next year’s Junior Theater Celebration and hope to offer some new opportunities prior to that time as well. Stay tuned.

We are all in this together. Stay safe and healthy!

Help Us Raise $25,000 For Junior Theater Celebration Charlotte Musical Kits And Transportation For Area Schools.

The Junior Theater Celebration Charlotte offers an enthusiastic, educational environment for students and teachers to interact with hundreds of others who share their passion for musical theatre. Created and directed by iTheatrics, a premiere creative consultant in educational musical theatre based in New York City, in association with the leading theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) and Blumenthal Performing Arts Education Department.

During the celebration, each school group performs a selection from their school musical before iTheatrics professionals who provide feedback to help the students improve their communication with the audience, engagement in the performance, understanding of the material and connection to the lyrics and movement.

The students also participate in interactive workshops while their teachers participate in professional development workshops with iTheatrics educators. Most importantly, the Junior Theater Celebration Charlotte brings together people from all aspects of theater – ranging from Charlotte Area Region students and teachers to professionals who work on Broadway – under one roof to celebrate outstanding student musical theatre productions. The program is completely free to participants.

More than 2,000 students and teachers gathered at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts and performed for their peers in March. Your support helped to provide kids the benefit of working as a team to create something they are proud of.
