A Christmas Carol
Come celebrate a beloved Christmas Classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL THE MUSICAL features all the well-known characters: Scrooge, the Ghosts of Christmases Past (Hailey Pulliam), Present (Nailyah Gardner) and Future (Grace Nelson), longsuffering Bob Cratchit (Izzat Monroe) and – of course! – Tiny Tim (Kris Reed). Directed by Qwa Dorsey with Choreography from Yessena Whitfield. Featuring music and lyrics of Broadway’s Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens, who gave us favorites such as Beauty and the Beast and Seussical, respectively.
Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him. The show is a true ensemble piece, utilizing a large 35-member cast of youth actors to play multiple characters throughout. "With the exception of Scrooge, the entire cast plays more than one part," says Dorsey.
Celebrating it’s 10th production season, Porch Productions Inc. believes that when children participate in or attend an initial performance their lives are transformed. It doesn't matter if these children grow up to be doctors, farmers, teachers, lawyers or legislators. Theater gives the young people the tools and inspiration they need to go out and embrace our amazing world. Our mission is to empower youth to explore, create and perform on the world stage.

With its stained glass windows and Byzantine dome, this historically designated space makes each event a memorable experience. McGlohon Theater features the orchestra (stage) level and the balcony level.
The theater is named in honor of the late, legendary jazz pianist Loonis McGlohon of Charlotte.
