Position Summary  

 

Under the supervision of the Chief Education Officer, the Preprofessional Program Manager develops and implements educational program in alignment with organizational goals and with specific attention to professional and life skill development, networking and enhancement of social capital, and multifaceted lifelong engagement with the arts. This position leverages Blumenthal Arts unique assets towards programming that builds hard and soft skills for participants including collaboration, critical thinking, time management, public speaking, tenacity, grit, customer service, self-care, and personal branding. This position trains and supervises the work of contract personnel; manages designated educational programs and events; supports all education department efforts as a collaborative team member. The position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to support events and programming.

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Pre-professional Initiatives

  • Responsible for managing the Education Department’s pre-professional initiatives for teens and young adults.
  • Provide advanced training that leverages Blumenthal Arts’ unique assets to develop workforce readiness across all industries including creative career pathways.
  • Maintain connections to support alumni as they move into higher learning and careers.
  • Foster meaningful community engagement to cultivate life-long supporters and passionate advocates for the arts.

Program Management

  • Conceptualize and pursue creative opportunities to engage teens and young adults through a variety of programs created and managed by the Education Department.
  • Establish a full schedule of events for a variety of programs each season.
  • Design programs focused on developing professional skills to strengthen workforce readiness across all industries.
  • Reserve appropriate venues and request all set-up needs, confirming details with appropriate Blumenthal departments and outside vendors.
  • Coordinate logistical details for all staff, volunteers, and guests participating in programs and events, providing schedules, directions, parking, and other details as needed.
  • Create and implement marketing plans for programs, including email campaigns, social media, and general website maintenance.
  • Represent Blumenthal’s Education Department at designated events, acting as liaison between the public and Blumenthal.
  • Support outcome measurement for initiatives and collaborations; including research and data collection.
  • Develop tools to maintain connections with program alumni.
  • Set program participation goals that align with department goals and funding.
  • On-going program assessment and refinement.
  • Maintain program documentation including SOPs, surveys, feedback, participation statistics, photos and videos as well as communicating information to marketing and development.

Programs

The PPM manages several programs featuring multiple events throughout the year. Each program requires specific oversight responsibilities. BA education programs are dynamic and adapt to changing needs. The PPM oversees programs such as Alumni Network, Masterclasses and Workshops, Internships, Junior Ambassadors, Scholarships, and Teen Affinity Groups.

Contract and Financial Responsibilities

  • Strategically define and maintain designated program budgets.
  • Negotiate contracts with guest artists, including full execution of contractual arrangements.
  • Manage credit card reconciliation reporting.
  • Create invoices for external partners (e.g. schools, community organizations, etc.) to ensure timely payment when appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with Community Impact and Partnership team to generate and implement funding plans to support strategies, including support for Annual Campaign and grant writing activities.

Relationship Development and Enhancement

    • Works with the Chief Education Officer in collaborating with Marketing, Programming, and other departments as needed to contribute toward successful BA programs, events, and festivals.
    • Works with the Chief Education Officer in preparing and conducting planning and other meetings with industry contacts, school leadership, and organization leaders for the purpose of exploring new initiatives and enhancing current programs as well as developing and fostering relationships.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in theater, theater education, art administration or related field supplemented by a minimum of five years of experience in arts education and programming; or, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Theater education experience preferred.

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, flexibility, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
