Retail Associate - Part Time

Position Summary
Under supervision of the Merchandise Manager, the Retail Associate will maintain the retail operation of Blumenthal Arts boutiques. The Retail Associate will create a delightful shopping experience, restock product displays, and maintain accurate inventory counts.
This is a part-time, seasonal position that is tied to the operation of specific event offerings that may include nights, weekends, and holiday seasons. Weekly hours will range from 0 to 29 hours per week. Retail Associates may work at several venues during one shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all areas are “show ready” throughout the day
- Open and close boutique
- Perform all POS duties including ringing up merchandise, taking payments, and offering receipt
- Greet and assist customers with a friendly and positive attitude
- Provide product information and answer questions to ensure a pleasant shopping experience
- Actively engage with customers to understand their needs, recommend products, and close sales
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude on the sales floor
- Ensure all merchandise and displays are labeled and priced correctly
- Daily upkeep and maintenance of the store’s space and fixtures
- Advise Merchandise Manager on low stocked merchandise, slow moving merchandise and all other customer needs and concerns
- Communicate and deliver daily sales reports to store team and Merchandise Manager
- Ensure company losses are at a minimum in terms of loss prevention
- Process freight / merchandise in a timely and efficient manner
- Completes incident / accident report when needed
- Assists with lost and found
- Additional duties, as assigned

- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate and interact with many people
- Comfort using a touchscreen point of sale system and software - including Square
- Strong ability to sell and persuade
- Basic math skills

- Self-motivated and takes initiative
Education and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one year of customer service experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Requires evening and weekend work as a part of the regular work schedule.
- Requires ability to reliably travel between venues in Uptown Charlotte.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
