Jazz N Soul Music and Radio Rehab present Musicology 101: The Soul of Hip-Hop - Art of The Sample! Enjoy a night filled with a mash up of Hip-Hop and R&B with live performances of the Soul, Funk, and Jazz hits that inspired the Hip-Hop legends of the Past, Present, and Future! Sunday, October 9th at 6:00p, the Stage Door Theater at The Blumenthal transforms into a musical and visual experience you do not want to miss!
Curated by Producer, composer, performer Quentin Talley, an all-star band and DJ will take you on a live musical journey featuring the music of Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Grace Jones, Diana Ross, Outkast, Wu-Tang, Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones, Jay Z, Roberta Flack, Willie Hutch, The Delfonics, Erykah Badu and many more surprises!
This event is a tribute to the R&B, Jazz, and Soul pioneers who created the original sound that formed the foundation of Hip-Hop and R&B Music as we now know it. This show was inspired by the “Amen Brother” drum break, by the Grammy Award Winning North Carolina Group The Winstons. The “Amen Break” is one of the most highly used samples in history.

A special preferred parking rate of only $5* is available for our patrons in our designated garage.
Bank of America Center Parking Garage
- Enter on Trade or 5th Streets between N. College and N. Brevard Streets.
The $5 rate is applicable when parked in the garage after 5pm on weekdays, Mon – Fri. If parked in the garage before 5pm, the $5 rate is void. There is no time restriction for the weekend, Sat & Sun.
Getting and Using Your Parking Pass When You Arrive
- Pull the garage entry ticket when you arrive at the designated garage. You will need this to exit!
- Purchase a $5 Blumenthal exit pass at the theater. If you would rather purchase by phone, please call 704.372.1000.*
When You Exit
- Insert your garage entry ticket into the yellow slot. Amount due will display on the screen.
- Insert your Blumenthal exit pass in the same yellow slot, with arrow pointing at slot.
- Gate arm will rise and the screen will display “drive safely.”
*Pre-paid parking is not available day of show.
