Blumenthal Performing Arts Welcomes New Board of Trustees

By Becky Bereiter

(March 3, 2022) Charlotte, NC – Blumenthal Performing Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees. Megan Greuling, Derek Raghavan and Elizabeth Sterling were confirmed to the board January 26, during Blumenthal’s Annual Meeting over Zoom. The 2022 Executive Committee of the Board was also announced.

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome Megan, Derek and Liz to our Board of Trustees," said Brian Cromwell, Chair of the Board. "Their global experience in non-profit, philanthropy and the substantive challenges faced by our organization will be invaluable to us as we grow our lines of business and pursue our mission to serve the community. I know that we all will benefit from their leadership and expertise. Reaching all aspects of the greater Charlotte community remains a Board priority, as we work together to present a diversity of programs to our audiences for the benefit of all.  Their thoughtful voices and passionate vision will help us continue to make a positive impact on people’s lives through the power of the arts - from the Broadway Lights to the Blumey Awards, from arts festivals to concerts, from comedy to Slam Charlotte poets.  As we emerge from these very difficult times, our new and existing trustees will come together to help us provide enriching programs to our community.”

Megan Greuling

Megan E. Greuling is the Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications for LendingTree, the nation’s leading online financial services marketplace headquartered in Charlotte, NC.  Since its inception, LendingTree has helped over 100 million customers shop and compare financial products, simplifying financial decisions for life’s meaningful moments through choice, education, and support. Megan oversees external communications across LendingTree’s portfolio of brands and businesses on a national level, managing media relations, press releases, corporate messaging and media appearances along with the production and distribution of the company’s consumer insights and research.  She also previously served on the Board of Trustees of PBS North Carolina.

Megan earned a Bachelor of Science in both Marketing and Management with a Public Relations and Advertising specialty from the University of South Carolina.

Derek Raghavan

Derek Raghavan MD PhD, founding President of the Levine Cancer Institute and Professor of Medicine at Atrium Health, was trained in Medicine in Australia, and received a PhD for research in the United Kingdom.  He has held several senior posts in oncology in Australia and the USA, most recently the director of the Taussig Cancer Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.  Dr. Raghavan has been active in cancer treatment and research for many years, acting as an advisor to more than a dozen major cancer institutes in the USA and Europe and has published around 300 scientific papers and 12 books.  He has had a long interest in the performing arts and served on the Board of Playhouse Square in Cleveland (during the tenure as CEO of the legendary Art Falco), was a performer in the Charlotte Ballet’s “Dancing With the Stars”, partnering with Sarah Hayes Harkin (coming second only because of his lack of dancing talent), and was a member of the Board of Charlotte Symphony Orchestra for several years, culminating in a stint as Chair.  He is married with two daughters and a stepdaughter, and his hobbies include the arts, golf (which he plays without any serious talent and modest enthusiasm) and Australian wine.

Elizabeth Sterling has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing, software, fintech and financial services. She has held several senior executive level finance and operations positions within those sectors.

Elizabeth joined Ally in 2019 as the Chief of Staff of the Consumer and Commercial Bank. In addition to her chief of staff role, Elizabeth is the executive sponsor of the Accelerated Rotational Program within the consumer and commercial bank. She also plays an integral role in leading the bank’s financial and social inclusion work launched in 2020.

Prior to Ally, Elizabeth was a senior executive with a Texas-based software company and prior to that spent almost 14 years with one of the major banks here in town.
